Q. Design is comprised of a mother/daughter team.  Marilyn started out as I Do Draperies in her own home back in 1995 although she had been making custom draperies for many years before that.  I Do Draperies became We Do Draperies when it rented an industrial space in October of 2000.  After a year in that first industrial unit, We Do Draperies had grown to need 2 industrial units and moved within the same complex to accommodate in late 2001.  Lindsay came on in October 2002 and the business had functioned and thrived strictly manufacturing custom drapery and accessories until January of 2012.

Q. Design is the outcome of striving to truly understand the needs of designers, decorators and homeowners when it comes to window coverings.  There was a gap in the market for a quality driven workroom combined with resource centre for fabric, hardwares and blinds to truly make shopping for window coverings easy and elegant.  Marilyn and Lindsay came up with a plan.  Let’s renovate our space to fill this gap and provide a full service, one-stop shop for designers, decorators and homeowners when it comes to custom window coverings, bedding and accessories.  With the help of one of our best clients, Elizabeth Metcalfe Interiors and Design, we put the physical manifestation of those needs into a design plan and then made it a reality with the help of KWP Renovations.  It took a little over 2 months but the space now reflects the fulfillment of our goals to provide “Designer window coverings from start to finish!”.
