Custom sheers have come a long way since you saw them at grandma's house! There are several different styles of sheers from the lovely rustic linen sheers to organza with metallic threads. We have sheers that will suit any space. Sheer panels are perfect for a room that doesn't require room darkening but needs something to soften the light and obscure the view to the yard or the road. Sheers also help to protect your furniture and flooring from damaging UV rays. They look great on their own or layered with custom drapery panels in a complimentary fabric. We are more than happy to consult with you about whether or not sheers are right for your home!
Our custom sheer manufacturing is a highly intricate process. Sheer is not cut by traditional rotary cutter, each piece has a thread hand pulled to use as a cutting line to ensure a square finish when it hangs in your home. Sheers often come in wide width so that there are no seams in your treatment but if they are standard 54" or 60" wide we french seam them to ensure a clean and professional finish. After the sheer panels are cut and joined (when necessary) we hem them with industry standard double turned 4" hems. The sides are double turned with a 1" side hem and all hems are blind hemmed with clear nylon thread. They are then affixed with heavy weight heading tape and hand folded and marked once again by hand for their pleats. Our pleats are all sewn in individually and hand folded. We don't use "pleating machines" as we find the finish is much cleaner when done with a straight stitch. The sheers are then hand hooked and the weights are inserted with a hand sewn closure. Each sheer that leaves our facility is measured to ensure it comes within 1/8" of it's intended length and is then packaged in our reusable gown bags to await installation.
